A hot curry followed by an early night seemed to do the trick...that's as much as my sensor (otherwise known as embarrassed hubbie) will permit me to say!!

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!! I just nearly fell off my chair!!
I'm thinking that position has gotta be beyond the flexibility of most non pregnant people let alone those with a massive bump...

I do recommend ladies have a bit of nookie to get things going though. I always kind of assumed they'd be on top...

(Sperm contains prostaglandins which help with 'cervial ripening'. In fact the things they give women during induction used to be made out of pig semen. Fact.)

I love Sheila K, she is one of my heroes.

On all fours with my feet up? How does that work?!

I'm not sure if it's appropriate to share this as it may give people images they may not want, but it made me laugh so mcuh I feel it is necessary, even if it is inappropriate. I've been reading a book my mum gave me by a lady called Sheila Kitzinger, who has a HUGE chip on her shoulder about medicalised and hospitalised births, and is a big advocate for home birth. The book is generally pretty good, quite interesting and useful, but there's a few bits which just make me laugh out loud (I don't think they're supposed to). This is my favourite bit;

"If you are waiting for labour to start, one way of stimulating the cervix to soften, and of perhaps initiating contractions, is to have sex, lying on your back with your heels on your partner's shoulders..."

What?! HOW?!

Gloria - (all my comments start that way, sorry...)

Kathye is right - you should be on all fours with your feet up, it's the only way to do the right thing by your baby. (In pilates we called it 'the plank').

Towards the end you feel like you have been pregnant FOREVER! and that actually the baby has decided just to take up permenant residence. I think its all because every day you are waiting to see if today is "the" day and you live every day like that, so its always a anticlimax when it doesn't happen, but you don't really want to plan anything/do anything special cause well it might be.

I became almost convinced that I was going to be pregnant forever with both of mine and they were both late and didnt seem in any hurry to arrive.

Just enjoy it, put your feet up (well actually you should be on all fours or on your ball to try and get baby in the best position, but you know what I mean!) and indulge yourself doing whatever you fancy, whenever you fancy.
Cause you won't get the chance again for a while *g*

I just ahd to check to make sure that a Microsoft Comfort 1000 is the one we have. It is. It's nice. I like the scrolly wheel bit in the middle too. Mouses (mice?) don't seem right if they don't have that bit.

Kate - I said you could get the "mum and baby" set of t-shirts that say supply on one and demand on the other. "Mmmm, boobies" is just a step too far!

Kathye, did you get really bored at the end of your pregnancies? I feel like pregnancy has become such a state of being for me that I can't imagine it ever actually ending now!
