Hadda-badda-do-why-ey

I thought I’d return to song lyrics for the title of this post.

I don’t know how many of you have been watching Last Choir Standing but it has to be one of the best music talent shows on TV at the moment and seeing as its the final today I thought I’d point you all in the direction of one of the best contributions so far.

I love this song. It’s the song next-most likely to make me cry after Nessun Dorma but that’s only because of Chrissy Waddle’s penalty. Which brings a tear to my eye just typing it.

Anyway, here’s the song. You can get the rest by visiting the Last Choir Standing website.

‘one of the best music talent shows on TV at the moment’, that is like saying ‘Harpies is one of the best STDs going round at the moment’. Yes, its not going to kill you, but given the choice you would rather not have any music Talent show at all. Saturday night TV should be exclusively for Dr Who. If Dr who is not on the TV should shut down.

also…now I have been driving round on my own for a few days…HOW ANNOYING ARE CYCLISTS! Get them all off the road!

well actually, I have been very good, and made an effort to keep using my bike even tho I could drive.

  2. Andy says:

Ha ha Pete. I think you mean herpes, the STD, rather than Harpies, the beautiful winged maidens from Greek Mythology.

Also - I have to disagree with you. Last Choir Standing has been excellent. I only saw a few episodes but they have been excellent entertainment with really good performances from many different choirs. I could have listened to most of those choirs for ages without the need for getting rid of one each week but I know that wouldn’t make it onto TV. And the few episodes I saw made me wish I had seen the whole series, unlike the latest series of Dr Who. The few episodes I saw of that actually made me wish I had UK Gold so I could watch re-runs of Eldorado rather than any more Dr Who…

The first new series with Christopher Eccleston was good, the second was ok although David Tennant never matched the genius of Eccleston and it’s been downhill since the suprisingly excellent Billie Piper left. Sorry Susie. I have to agree with Chris Weston on this:

Why do I hate it…? Where do I start? Bad dialogue, bad plotting, bad acting, bad jokes and bad science. Sentimental, patronising, inconsistent and too eager to please. Some of it is so cringeworthy I actually blush while I’m watching it.

  3. Mum says:

Wow - that should get some heated blog discussion going!
I wish I’d watched Last Choir Standing.

  4. Andy says:

    I wish you’d watched it too…

  5. Kate says:

I hate Dr Who - it makes me cringe.
Am just watching the re-run of the LCS final - one of the main reasons I didn’t watch the series was because I find Myleene (has no) Klass so irritating.

No that either of those statements are very interesting but I felt I hadn’t contributed in a while…

  6. Ros says:

What are you talking about?! The last series of Dr Who was awesome. You’re just wrong.

  7. Susie says:

    Its all opinion.

    “Myleene (has no) Klass”! Brilliant!

  8. Andy says:

    Susie - that’s a boring contribution to the argument… come on… let’s have a fight…

    Also… well done.

  9. Susie says:

You don’t have to apologise to me. It wasn’t me that made Dr Who. But it will be. (I stole that off a new Nike advert. Its a brilliant advert. Here’s a game: try to find it.)

I just watched the song. I love that one. Wasn’t convinced by the arm movements though. Either dance or don’t dance. That’s always been my moto.

I’ve got teh music on an album called the Journey:the best of adiemus. Or something. The whole album is great. A guy at uni did a piece of theatre to the whole soundtrack. No words just choreography stuff. It was amazing. It gave me goosebumps.

When I was at school the senior choir used to be brill. They sung that song at some big event we had in the parish church in Oldham with all the school. They were so good that everyone cheered and whoooped and got up on their feet. Afterwards the Cannon (Cannon Sykes) shouted and told everyone that there would be no whooping etc in the house of God. Nutter!!!!

  11. Susie says:

Carolyn that comment just reminded me that you were in Brassed Off. You were weren’t you?! Are you visible?

  12. Jonny Evans says:

    Hee hee

You can see her sprint past the camera really quickly

  13. Carolyn says:

I don’t know if you can even see that! I met Ewan though, got a day off primary school, free food and £25 which was a lot for a kid in the mid 90s. I stupidly wore a white top that day. The director or whoever it was kept choosing people with dark tops for particular scenes. Something to do with the lighting. That Matalan jumper was one of my favourites too.

  14. pete says:

So, in summary, my opinion about this is right then.

  15. Dad says:

Isaac is one gorgeous bundle of fun - just thought I’d mention it! Isn’t he beautiful!!

  16. Kate says:

I am very excited about seeing Isaac on Sunday and getting to spend nearly a whole week with him. From the pictures he looks giant now!
    I miss him. (and I don’t like babies…)

  17. Kathye says:

    If you go here

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/lastchoirstanding/video/?page=21

You can watch video of the early weeks singing that you missed, its even better than the show because you lose all the chatter!

I have really enjoyed this show

  18. Mum says:

Brilliant - we’re back to Isaac! I’m looking forward to seeing him again too even if it won’t be for nearly a week. I’m also looking forward to seeing his parents and his Aunty Katie.
    Kate - you’re a midwife & you don’t like babies!!!!

  19. Jonny Evans says:

To be fair, she does see a lot of babies. Maybe they get boring.

You get some right ugly minger babies too and I bet Kate has to say things like…

“ooh… she’s so beautiful. Such a bundle of joy”

.. but secretly things: “oh my word… how can a God of love let things like that happen”

  20. Jonny Evans says:

That should read: “.. but secretly thinks…”

  21. Kate says:

Ok, it’s not that I actively dislike babies, I just don’t go all gushy and gooey over them - I’m not very maternal in that way (I say in that way because I think you have to be quite maternal to be a midwife because you look after people in a motherly sort of way).

But I like Isaac a lot.
