I’m torn…Do I go and see them in Hyde Park where they’re playing with Ben Harper and a band I’ve not heard (but who I’m sure will be good if they’re with Crows, and I love Ben Harper) BUT there’ll be less Crows time. Or do I travel all the way to Liverpool which’ll be much more expensive and take more time off work but there’ll be more Crows time? Help me! Also, I’d have to find someone who loves Crows enough to fork out £40 down here. All the Crows fans I know live up there. This is exciting though!!! I just got an email about it too.

  • Susie

Just pre-ordered Saturday Nights and Sunday Mornings too. Has everyone else??

  • Susie

I’ve just thought of something, Amazon will be here by then right? So I’d need a trip north around then anyway. So I could just combine it. That way I can go to Crows with people I know.

  • Andy

Where have you pre ordered it from?

I can’t decide whether to pre order it, just go into Zavvi Top and buy it on the day (I don’t think it will sell out!) or just download it from iTunes.

About the gig - I just asked Sian if I could go. She said “It depends on whether you ever want me to talk to you again.”

Is it wrong I’m still considering it?

  • Susie

Its not WRONG that you’re still considering it but I might advise against it. There are few things more important than Crows gigs but wives are probably one of them. Is it that she doesn’t want to be on her own with the baby at that early stage or is it that she’d be jealous? I think you should all come and bring Amazon. You’re allowed to take them out after 2 weeks and it’d be more likely to grow up to be a Crows fan. Plus it’d automatically be the coolest newborn ever.

  • Pete

I just went onto play.com (other online stores selling entertainment products are available), intending just to buy one CD, This is my truth, tell me yours by the manics. But I ended up buying 3 cds. I also ordered Eric Clapton unplugged and No Quater by Page and Plant (from Led Zep). But the good news is that Play have got loads of stuff for £5 right now, so 3 very high quality CDs only cost me £15! Bargin!

I was in Durham last night and went to a concert in the cathedral which was a very enjoyable evening.

  • Pete

oh, also, just in case there was any doubt, the whole england cricket team (except hatric hero Ryan Sidebottom) are absolute rubbish.

  • Kate

I pre-ordered my copy a couple of weeks ago - figured it would be cheaper than going to a shop.
Have also got my hyde park tickets and am in the process of persuading everyone I know to get one also.

Gloria - you’re allowed to take the baby out sooner than 2 weeks, in fact it’s encouraged cos otherwise you’ll jusy sit around getting a DVT… But I’m not sure they’ll let you in to a gig with a newborn. But you could just stick it in the sling and then people barely notice them…

  • Gloria

Kate - I think you’ll find it wasn’t actually me that said anything about 2 weeks. I fully intend to be out and about long before that!

Susie - I would love to come to the gig but I won’t really be able to leave Amazon with anyone else at 2 weeks old (however much your mum seems to think it’d be fine…!) and even the Crows aren’t worth damaging my baby’s hearing for. Andy can go, though, I’ve told him that. I will be jealous for evermore, but as I said about Kate going to the Hyde Park gig - I’ll have a baby, so I still win. I have friends who aren’t that bothered about Crows so I’ll spend the day with them instead. I wouldn’t want Andy to resent our baby for the sake of a gig…!

Andy, can I ask you a bit of a geeky computer question?

Sometimes when I turn my computer on I get this siren noise coming from the box and it won’t start. I put the computer together myself, so it’s probably something to do with that, but then I unplug it and turn it back on and it’s fine. It could be the processor or the motherboard, but not sure which?

If I want to upgrade my motherboard (I have to to upgrade my processor, which is what I really want to do), can I just keep my hard drive and keep all the info on it, etc?

Also, woohoo for you being allowed to come and see the Crows! Gloria, I’m sorry you can’t come but you won’t care when it comes round to it, you’ll (only just) still be excited about having a baby!

  • Kate

I know it wasn’t you chick - I just wanted to make sure you knew! ;o)

Andy’s on residential with school this week, in the back of beyond somewhere (I think it’s called Ipswich?) where there’s no internet access. So he’s not ignoring you, he just won’t be on the blog for the rest of this week. He said he was going to turn it pink and give me control again, but seems to have forgotten about that…!

My work colleagues have challenged me to do the Race for Life this year. They don’t seem to think it would be an issue that the Rotherham one is only 3 weeks after I’m due to have Amazon. I’m thinking maybe I’ll take them up on the challenge. Alternatively, if you fancy doing it this year, Kate, there’s one in Exeter (WestPoint) on July 20th, which would give me another couple of weeks…!

  • Kate

Erm, July 20th is not only your wedding anniversary but it’s also Ne and I’s 10th anniversary - no offence but I’m hoping to be doing something a little more indulgent on that day!!
Am kind of thinking I’ll do a 10k at some point - most of my friends are doing the Plym half marathon this year so I feel a bit shameful!

  • Gloria

Good point. I knew it was our wedding anniversary but as it only takes half an hour, and we’ve kind of agreed to do something when we’re away on holiday instead I figured it didn’t matter too much. I take your point about your anniversary, though!

We did a 10k in October last year, which is a good time to do one. Maybe we could train together (but not actually together, because you’ll be in Exeter and I’ll be in the blighted North!) and aim to do one this Autumn. We could set up some kind of virtual training programme…?! I’d like to do another one and do it in less than an hour this time.

  • Kate

Sounds good to me, mine was in Oct too - I’d like to do it in under an hour too - not sure I’ll be able to do it though! A virtual training programme might work… In Exeter I go running by the river which is fab cos it’s flat! But also I should be able to work out how far it is from my map.

  • Mum

All this talk of running & training makes me feel guilty at my unfitness. Thankfully Andy will be back soon to make us all laugh with funny stories from his residential.

  • Gloria

I never thought I’d say it but I really miss running. I keep seeing people out for a run and really want to get out there and join in. It’d be a waste of time just now tho - I wouldn’t even get to the end of the road! Hopefully I’ll still feel the same once I’ve had the baby. I really don’t want to sit around and get fat.

On a more exciting note, my husband returns to me tonight. Hooray!

  • Andy

    Hey again guys.

Firstly - I’m not going to go and see Crows. I have more important (and, to be honest, far more fun) things to be spending my money and time on over the next few months.

Secondly - Mat - the geeky question. Have you checked your local area for air raids?

On a slightly more serious note - you can indeed just upgrade your motherboard and processor. It requires a bit of work to basically associate the hard drive with the processor (I’m not really sure how better to explain that!) but it can be done pretty easily - and in fact - if you put your PC together yourself you will be able to do that and probably know more about it than me!

The noise is probably a dead gerbil inside the case. Have you checked for that? (That’s my way of saying - I don’t really know why it’s making a noise - without hearing it I can’t really say anymore!)

  • Pete

Funny you say that, when patients complain of strange noises coming from there abdomen, 9 times out of 10 is a dead gerbil. They always claim that they fell on it…they are not fooling anyone

  • Gloria

Pete - you make me laugh so much. You better be coming to camp this year.

  • Pete

Gloria, I am glad you find my bottom hunour ammusing. I will do my best to get to camp-Ive arranged a tutor, one of my tutors form last year who is a peadatrition to supervise my ‘placement’, ive got the forms filled in and sent off, so I am just waiting for the med school to reply. They probably wont say yes straight away, but will probably suggest alterations etc, and perhaps need some contact with sue before its all properly sorted…
