Red and Orange and Yellow and Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet, I could sing a Rainbow, sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow to you…
Posted on 12th October 2007 by Pete
…I am not sure if they are the correct lyrics for the song, but they are deffinitly the correct colours in the correct order (richard of york gave battle in vain!).
This week hasn’t been a great week, but the jokes helped, thanks. What helped even more was the release of the latest album by one of the best bands around! InRainbows by radiohead was out on Wednesday (do you understand the title now? Clever no? I thought it up all by myself). I’ve only managed to have time to listen to it twice so far, but it seems great. It is not the same as Amnesiac, but not disimilar, so I expect it will grow on me even more as that has. Although I could have downloaded it for free, I decided to give them some money for it. I’ve never paid for a file on a computer before. When you buy a CD, or even softwear, you normally get something physical with it. It felt very strange to hand over money for a few MP3 files.
I am still loving Duke Special. If you havn’t checked them out yet after last time I mentioned them then go do it now! www.dukespecial.com. I have also been lent a Block Party album by a mate. I had never heard of them. I’ve had 1 listen, not sure if I like it. Will have to try again.
Also, I get to play drums this sunday morning. I have not played in weeks! Can’t wait. Infact I am travelling back to York tomorrow just to pick up my sticks! Should be good.
Ermm… I feel like I should end with a question to get a discussion flowing…
Which would you rather have? A radio instead of a head, or a television for in your abdomon like a teletubby?…humm…deep…

Yer, I knew I didnt get the song right, but mine is better. Who ever heard of Pink been in the rainbow? Madness. (just to be clear, I am not saying that the answer to my question ‘Who ever heard of Pink been in the rainbow?’ is the band ‘Madness’. Even they know its not ture. My question was rutorical. madness was my judgment on it, not the answer to it).
Here is an interesting fact for you-the refraction that causes rainbows and other spectral phonomena are a big problem with poor quality camera lenses. The different wavelenghts of light are refracted by different amounts (which is how a rainbow is produced) which means you can get slightly distored colours in photos, usualy around the edge of objects. This is known as Chromatic Abrasion. Would you like me to tell you how they solve this problem in better lenses?
Jonny, I am not yet qualified to do the opp, but fairly soon I will be spending some time doing medical imaging, it might be covered in that.
Craig, whats all wrong?

We’ve been the victim of credit card fraud! I feel like a proper grown up now.
The funny thing is that the first I knew about it was I got a phone call from Egg asking me if I really meant to buy 5 plane tickets to Dublin.
Now - if the person who used my card reads my blog - Egg have sent me out a new PIN and card so that you can’t use my card anymore. The new PIN is 4928. Just so you know. Also - the last 3 digits on the back of the card are 924. Do you need to know anything else?!
And finally - I got a new camera today! Thanks Gloria. It probably means that the next several posts will involve photos of one thing or another. Hope you’re looking forward to them…

Ooo, yes, I like photos.
Andy you could take some pictures of us this weekend - I’m very excited about coming up to see you. (Well, not the actual going up, that’ll probably be boring and a bit stressful - I’m hoping things get better once we actually arrive.)

When I was working at Jessops someone bought a camera from me with what turned out to be a stolen card. I had to give a police stament. But the coolest thing is that the store copy of the reseat was kept by the police as evidence. They had to give it a name, so they called it ‘P.S.’ to stand for Peter Smith. So somewhere at some point during a cought case a laywer will have said ‘And will you now turn to look at piece of evidence P.S.’, meaning my name. They were convicted and sent to jail. I might ask for police protection once they get out. The really anoying thing is that if I had spotted it as been stolen and reported it myself I would have been given £50, which is about 3 months pay on jessops wages.

Sorry to be very boring but could I just ask a favour of people who write posts on the blog?
When you go to the write post page you should see over on the right hand side there is a box that says “Post Slug”. Could you write a short description of the post in that box? Use _ instead of spaces but try to make it only one or two words long.
I don’t mind REALLY long post titles (in fact they are quite fun) but Wordpress defaults the Post Slug (and therefore the address of the post) to the Post Title. Which I don’t want long. So - think of a good Post Slug before you post.
Thanks.
Sorry.

gutted Pete, I made 100s when I worked at Sainsburys from taking peoples cards away from them and sending them back to the banks.
I like to think I had an eye for people trying to use fraudulent credit cards…I didnt really, it was always the ones that would ask for £50 cash back as its the maximum you can get, and they would always go to the kiosk near the door rather than through a till. Oh and when you get some white guy with the name Mrs. Mugabu you kinda think how stupid are you that you think you can actually get away with this…I had one woman try and use some card and ask for cash back and the person on the till called me over and said they werent happy…Anyways she started kicking up a fuss shouting screaming and swearing being quite rude really insisting on the fact that the card was hers and how dare I question her, and I kinda when someone goes like that you try and be extra polite just for fun. So I rung up the card referral no. to check her details and she refused to speak to them to confirm the security questions, In the end because she wouldn’t calm down and wouldnt cooperate I called the police…As soon as I did it she calmed down immediately and started crying. turned out that not only was the card not hers but she was also an illegal immigrant…Oops and to think if she wasn’t so rude I wouldnt have called the police and she wouldnt have been chucked out the country as she most probably was.

We’re all sat pondering the answer to your question about radios for heads or TVs in bellies. It’s important to get it right!
Problem with having a TV in your belly is that you couldn’t watch it unless you looked in a mirror, but then it’d be backwards. However, you could charge other people to watch, but it might get a bit much if people just stared at your tummy all day.
I like having a head, and if you put a radio there instead I’d just become whichever DJ was on at the time, and they’re mostly annoying people.
I’m going with TV in the belly.
Andy’s got a week off next week, so he’ll be on more often, that’s when he’s not finishing off (starting?) my website!!!

speaking of things musically related to neighbours, what on earth is going on with the new theme music and title sequence?!?!?!? Its so bad it makes me want to cry. And why did no one die in the bus crash? Surely the whole point of disasters such as that in a soap is to give the writers a chance to get rid of actors/charterers who aren’t working-such as the bishop family and the plane crash.

I know, I was shocked and disappointed with the new credits sequence. I missed the espisode after the bus crash and was most dissatisfied with the lack of death. Although they do seem to be leaving it open for Ringo to die, maybe a few minutes after Carmella decides she does love him after all and doesn’t mind that he’s about 10 years younger than her…
Brooke sings on Tim Hughes’ latest album, too. It’s very cool.
And Mat, sorry to disappoint you but don’t get your hopes up too much about Andy doing your website next week - I’m taking him down south to see the in-laws so he won’t have much time for such frivolities as websites he promised to do about 2 (and the rest?!) years ago.

Shocked and disappointed are the words I’d use too. Why would they change it after 20 years? Alos, I think in answer to Pete’s comment about no one dying in the crash, there has clearly been some kind of reversal because a new family appeared from it instead. Seriously, it crashed and then there were some new people. Maybe it would’ve made more sense if I;d have seen the previous episode but I swear they came from nowhere.

They basically just invented another brother for Ned, and hoped we wouldnt notice that they have never even been mentioned before…although they did try to cleverly trick us into beliving that these poeple do have a longer history by pretending that Susan met them years ago at Drews funerail. I wassn’t fooled.

Did you see today’s episode? When Oliver walked in while Paul and Elle were talking, he wandered past them singing an old Stefan Dennis song! It was so funny!
I’m never happy when new people come in to neighbours, they ruin the balance for a while.

I see the wounds of Drews loss have not yet healed in you Susie-stay strong and you will adventualy be able to get through the greif.
I missed the Stefan Dennis song as well-I didnt know he had any songs, although as he is an actor on neighbours I suppose I should have realised he did.

There’s a link to Stefan Dennis’s song, ‘Don’t it make you feel good’, which is the one Oliver was singing the other day. Yes, I searched the internet for a Stefan Dennis song, sad I know. I just wish I could find a clip of Oliver singing it this week now!
