Money money money
Hello all. Sorry to post so close to another post - please don’t ignore Sian’s plea for help with fancy dress. She is indeed right that I do not have the arms for Bruce Willis in Die Hard. I could work on it but I don’t think a week is going to do much good.
Anyway - the reason I am posting again so soon is because I have to sound all old and tell you about something great we just did! Sian was listening to Jo Whiley on the radio earlier today and she had a money expert on talking about what he knows as a money expert. He was talking about how to make savings on car insurance and it just so happens we needed to renew our car insurance because I had The Lamest Crash In The World Ever® this year and we lost our no claims discount. Our insurance was set to go up quite a bit.
So - I followed the tips on the Money Saving Expert website that was mentioned on the radio and we managed to get a quote that was HALF the quote we got from our current insurer. I know it sounds like an advert for some dodgy money making scam but can I just say - if you don’t already - when you’re up for renewal on ANYTHING have a look at that site!
Have a nice day…

That’s good news. Also, how on earth do these Sennheisers fit in your ear? They’re at a funny angle. When I put them on they point forward.
This issnt about money-or sennheisers for that matter, but I thought I would tell you anyway. Tomorrow I am going back to York (I only came to Hull on Sunday!), then on saturday I am going down to Stafford to see Pat’s Panto! It should be fun. I will give you all a critical review when I get back (although I could probably do it now-it will most probably be very very cheesey, but allot of fun, with lots of over the top power-ballards and classic rock songs).
Also, while on the subject of sennheisers-I love mine. Ive got the ones with a neck band so I can wear them with my bike helmet on. They sound great, fantastic bass, but the only problem is that the foam ear pads become loose, then come off very easily. So I have had to super glue mine on, which seems to have worked. But unfortunitly my dad lots one of the foam pads from his so has had to look on t’internet to get a replacement
Also-the song ‘I want you(she’s so heavy) by the Betals is so so good! I was listening to it on my cycle into hospital this morning-go listen to it now!
Haha.. the thought of Pete supergluing something and then putting it in his ear! The odds of a disaster there must have been high! You need to learn from me Pete… whenever you are about to do something stupid… film it!
Hello All, been a while dunno if this has been mentioned before…but I got the new cpas brochure through for this year!
I counted 5 photos from Whitby in it. Including the front page of it and two of Jonny on the beach playing his guitar with the crosses behind.
ah yes…I did ask them for a photo credit when I sent them in but i doubt they gave me one!
Jonny-I waited till the super glue dried before wearing them-it seemed a sensible precaution to take
Pete - can you send me your address - where you’d like the cheque delivered to.
ah yes, I forgot about that. The first one you sent never did arrive, did you cancel it?
My address is:
9 Wellesley Ave
Hull
HU6 7LN
Thanks.
Ive just seen the ventures brochoure, and as I suspected I didnt get any credits. I blame the google image search: Photos these days are undervalued as they are so easily acssesable, so photographers don’t get their due.
I am thinking of learning to drive. I have just been on on some of the insurance comparrison websites, getting a quote on a made up car, but the type of thing I would probably be looking to get (i.e. old and cheep!). The quotes vary hugly! Doing it in my name looks like it would cost around £1200 or more! But if my mum ‘owns’ the car then I pay to insure us both on it then I have found one quote as cheap as £333! I can’t belive that can be right…it seems very very cheep.
Do you think that it is worth having a car to practice in while I am learning to drive (aome of my uni mates have been driving long enough to supervise me)? Or can I learn with out it? I could just about manage with out a car for now, but by 5th year I deffinitly need to be able to drive, and have a car to drive. Why are things all so expensive? And why wont my parents pay it all for me like some of my mates at uni-ehhh…they don’t know they are born, we have it tough in Yorkshire, down pit 28 hours a day, 9 days a week for nought but tuppence.
It will be really expensive cos you are still a provisional driver. It’ll go down when you pass your test (not much tho!)
Problem with learning in your own car is that you’ll inevitably ride the clutch and knacker your gearbox. Best bet is to ruin the instructors car (and your parents) instead!
Its much better to be able to practise but I’m managing without (not that I’ve taken my test yet!) Realistically, will you actually have time to do extra pracise? It would only be worth it if you were gonna go out lots. Which as a med student you probably won’t. I can’t wait to pass my test. I’m bored of learning. Today is one if those days I can’t get anything done. Its rubbish. I’m not a fan of today.
Pete - they were never going to give you any credit. That’s the way the brochure works! The front cover looks awesome though. You should scan it in and put it on your site somewhere…
I counted 5 pictures from our venture.
true, true. I might well put it on the site. Ive got a few things to update-I got some rather nice pictures by a river on a very frosty morning just before christmas which need to go up. I just need to get time to do it. And I have just found out that an exam I have got has been preponed (is that even a word? Its what the email said) to thursday, so I need to do some major cramming for that.
