Everybody’s free (to wear sunscreen)
Andy and I are going to a film-themed fancy-dress party next weekend and we’re a bit rubbish with fancy dress so need some help.
My first idea was to go as Juliet from Bazz Lurhman’s Romeo & Juliet, but unfortunately Clare Danes is brunette in that.
I’m currently thinking about Reese Witherspoon from Legally Blonde, but any better ideas would be much appreciated.
I suggested Andy went as Bruce Willis from the Die Hard quadrilogy (a real word, apparently!) but he says he doesn’t have the arms for it.
A prize may be available for the best suggestion…
I hate dressing up-It always smacks to me of people saying ‘I am wearing silly clothes, arnt I funny’, to which my inevitable answer is ‘NO!’.
However, that doesent help you, and it certainly wont win me any prizes. hummm…I am not very good at thinking of these things. How about Batman and Robin, with Gloria as Batman, and Andy as Robin?
I think you should go as Shrek and Princess Fiona. My mum and dad managde to pull it off at camp *ahem*.
Yeah, the thought did cross my mind but, to be honest, it seemed like a bit too much effort!
The only Fancy Dress I have ever been too was a bad taste fancy dress, which probably is no hope whatsoever. (Though was reasonably funny to attend!)
But what about Nursery Rhyme (that doesn’t look right, so wish I could spell) characters, like Jack and Jill?
Would be ideal. Although not really ideal seeing as the theme is films!
Someone somewhere must have made a film with Jack and Jill in…

Ohh just had an idea, what about Bugsy Malone?
We’re not really bothered about going as a couple from a film, but I wouldn’t want to go as one half of a couple if Andy wasn’t going as the other half. I haven’t yet been persuaded to consider anything other than Legally Blonde so at the moment the prize is going to me.
Homer & Marge could be quite good…

Roger and Jessica Rabbit? Andy gets to wear red dungarees and daft ears, and you get to wear a nice dress!
What about the end of ‘an officer and a gentleman’? You could wear factory overalls, and Andy could dress as Richard Gere’s character. Not quite as glamorous though….
It’s not as glamorous - but Gloria would get to be carried round by Andy all night… which would be pretty cool
