Floating away in the bath tub

Posted on 4th July 2008 by Andy

Right. I’m not sure I’ve mentioned enough how fantastic I find Isaac. I won’t go on about him all the time but I have to just say a few things. I can’t help but smile when I look at him… he’s brilliant! The great thing about having to go to work in the morning is knowing that at the end of the day I get to go home and see Isaac and Gloria. It’s grand!

Even when he cries!

One of the best things so far is taking Isaac in the bath. He seems to love water. Which is great. I can’t wait till he can laugh and splash too but at the moment he is just kicking about and looking very much as if he is enjoying it… thought I’d share this picture with well placed bubbles!

That is an awesome picture! Although when I first went to this post only half of it came up for some reason, so it looked like you’d put Isaac’s head on a picture of some sky. I thought that was pretty wierd.

  • Susie

Its brilliant. It must be weird to enjoy something like a bath but not be able to smile about it. It’ll be ace when he can!

Pete have you heard the news about Delirious?

  • Andy

    This news?

  • Pete

Andy, for some reason I can’t sign in, any ideas?

I hadn’t heard that, but I suspected it was coming when Stu Smith left, in fact I was surprised they replaced him at all.

1 more week of term then I have my 4 week summer holiday! Can’t wait, I need a break.

    Great photo, keep them coming!

Aah! What a cutie! Hope to meet him in person on 27th - thanks for the invite - as long as we can sort out the logistics!!

  • Andy

Grand!! We might be able to help if you need somewhere to stay… we wouldn’t have room here but we have friends… at least I think we do. Let us know if we can help.

Also - someone - I want a Crows review on the site.

  • Susie

I’d like to write a review but I’m not very good at writing things like that. They were awesome.

  • Kate

    Er, actually they were super-awesome.
Wish they would have played longer though (although they were on for about an hour and a half so they didn’t exactly short-change anyone) - Ne wanted to hear Angels of the Silences. And I wish they hadn’t played Big Yellow Taxi - it was cool but their own songs are so much better.

Whole day was fab actually - we saw this guy we really liked having no idea who he was - turned out it was Powderfinger…

  • Susie

Powderfinger were good. Ben Harper didn’t do as good a set as on Wednesday but I think it may be coz Jack Johnson fans tend to know him really well too so it was more like his own gig, but with this I got the impression he felt people were just waiting for Crows. And also I think the tuning threw him off a bit.

I was so excited that Crows did A Long December! And ending with Holiday in Spain was just great. I’m glad they did lots of old stuff. I enjoyed the 10 minute long Round Here!

I work in Fat Face and on the music system there is plenty of Jack, Crows, Ben, Matt Costa, Powderfinger, Goo Goo Dolls, G.Love. I have seen them all in the last week so now when I’m at work I just happily daydream about Hyde Park!

  • Susie

Kate Yardley, can I have your email address please? Or, if you don’t want to put it on the blog, because of all the strangers we get on here, mine is susie@hoyland.me.uk if you could email me that’d be good.

I saw Crows on Tuesday in Liverpool and they were excellent then too, although it was in the new arena, and the standing floor bit was only half full. We got near the front so the atmosphere was still fine, but it was a bit of a shame. They came on late so Adam didn’t talk much, but here’s the setlist if you’re interested!

    Omaha
    Hard Candy
    Hanging Tree
    Recovering the Satellites
Perfect Blue Buildings (had to restart cos Adam was singing in the wrong key!)
    Cowboys
    Good Time
    High Life
    Angels of the Silences
    When I Dream of Michelangelo
    Los Angeles
    A Long December
    Come Around
    Mr Jones

Meet on the Ledge (Fairport Convention cover?)
    Holiday in Spain.

Also, Susie, the guy from Powderfinger, Bernard Fanning has his own album out called Tea and Sympathy (I think), and it’s brilliant! When we were in Australia in 2005 the single from it called ‘Wish you well’ was out and was massive, it’s a great song. The rest of the album’s excellent too, bit more folk/countryish than Powderfinger’s stuff, I think you’d like it. All of you!

  • Kate

I met an Australian girl in the queue for the ladies who said that Bernard Fanning’s solo album was really good. I think I might know the song ‘Wish you well’ but never knew who it was. Was thinking of buying a Powderfinger album but didn’t know which one to go for.

Sounds like Crows did a similar set in Liverpool but with a few extras. Wish I could have gone but tis a bit far from darkest Devon…

  • Susie

I didn’t know Bernard Fanning was the Powderfinger guy. He plays in Fat Face lots too. Not live, just to clarify. Crows also did Anna Begins which I forgot to mention but made me very happy. A friend of mine came to see Ben Harper at the wireless and was so impressed with Crows. Which is cool coz she doesn’t know much of their stuff. I think it shows how good a band is live if you can really enjoy it when you don’t know the songs.

  • Kate

    I agree - that’s what I thought about Powderfinger.

Anna Begins made me cry. In a good way.

  • Pete

Looks like Counting Crows killed the conversation…

  • Susie

Yup, that’s what I thought. Pete you need to email me your theory on Dr Who. Also are you gonna be at Steve’s wedding?

  • Pete

Ah yes, I forgot to text you back about that. Unfortunately Not, as I had already agreed to do photos at another wedding before he set his date. However, the wedding is in York, and I am only staying till just before the meal starts, so I might be able to make it over for the evening. Shall email the dr who theory, far too geeky to do over the blog.

  • Susie

Brooke Fraser’s playing in London on the 26th September. Most of you probably won’t know who she is. I like her a lot. I’ve spent a lot of money lately. But she’s only doing one night and its rare that she’s over here (I say rare, I think this is her second gig in England…). Shall I go? Its cheap, but there’s the train as well, because by then I won’t be so near to London. I need some guidance.

  • Andy

    I’m there…

Or maybe not. But I’d like to be…
